According to the National Seismological Service (SSN), the 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck at 18:17 hours (central time) at a depth of 10 kilometers south of Cabo San Lucas, with coordinates at 19.59°, -109.40°. Earlier on the same day, at 05:44, a 5.1 magnitude tremor was recorded 73 kilometers northeast of Loreto at a depth of 10 kilometers. Just five minutes later, at 05:49, another quake of magnitude 4.1 occurred 86 kilometers northeast of Loreto, with a depth of 6.1 kilometers. Following this, at 05:59, a 3.7 magnitude tremor was detected 98 kilometers northeast of Loreto at a depth of 17 kilometers. The series continued with a 3.6 magnitude quake at 09:16, 67 kilometers northeast of Loreto, at a depth of 8.4 kilometers.
